Explore the Helford River

The beautiful scenery, secluded beaches and glorious gardens.


The Helford river is situated south west of Falmouth and is well worth a visit!

The river is now mainly used by leisure users with visiting yachts a plenty, but it still has some working fishing boats and the famous Duchy oyster farm.

If thats not enough, there is plenty of activities for the whole family on the water.

1. Park and Float to Falmouth

The car park has well over 500 car parking spaces, so parking is never a problem.

2. Jump on the No. 35 bus to Helford

Take a short walk from Customs House Quay to Falmouth Moor.


The number 35 bus leaves every hour or so from Falmouth Moor.

This bus is included on the Fal Mussel Card visitor, so you won't have to spend a penny.

3. Glorious Gardens

Unlock the magical kingdom of gardens on the Helford River.


Explore the tranquil Glendurgan gardens or the impressive bamboo collection at Carwinion.

Glendurgan is renowned for its natural beauty and amazing plants, the three valleys of Glendurgan truely are something special.

Carwinion's rare plants are quite a spectacle. Scattered over 14 acres, these gardens offer a feast of fun for everyone.

4. Enjoy Helford Passage

After all the exploring around the gardens, head to Helford Passage for a relaxing lunch.


Take a picnic with you or grab lunch at the famous Ferryboat Inn. 

Helford Passage has a small beach offering fantastic views over the river. Catch a ferry across the river to Helford, or hire a small boat and make your own way across!

5. Head for Home

Head for home...


Jump on the bus back to Falmouth.

Simply head back to Falmouth on the bus and jump on the park and float and head back to the car at Ponsharden.
